Our mission is to improve horticultural knowledge and practices in Union County through:

  • Providing education for the public and our members
  • Sponsoring community activities that combine service and learning
  • Developing collaborative relationships within the community 

In our work we commit to:

  • Value the quality rather than quantity of projects
  • Support the continuing development of Master Gardeners 

 We strive to establish partnerships that encourage:

  • Education as a part everything we do
  • Collaboration and interaction between Master Gardeners and the public
  • “Doing with” rather than “doing for”
  • A variety of teaching and learning styles 

Our criteria for selecting projects:

  • Contains a well defined educational component
  • Develops Master Gardeners’ horticultural knowledge, skills, and experience
  • Promotes partnerships with service, civic, youth, school, or government groups
  • Facilitates community involvement, service learning and volunteerism
  • Requires little or no garden or landscape maintenance component.
