Project and Gardener of the Year Criteria


Project of the Year

Each year the Union County Master Gardener Association votes on a Project to submit to the State Master Gardener Project of the Year. A one page typed description (no more than 300 words) of the project and why it should be considered for project of the year is written with the following information included: 

    objectives of the project/were they met 
  • target audience 
  • resource materials used or developed 
  • project costs and funding sources 
  • impact from the project 
Past projects have included the Union County Tour of Gardens and McCloud Park Demonstration Garden.

Master Gardener of the Year

Each year the Union County Master Gardener Association votes on a member who meets the following criteria:

  • Volunteer hours/educational hours 
  • Number of years as a Master Gardener
  • Level of involvement within County 
  • Positions held in County 
  • Positions held in Ohio Master Gardener Association 
  • Greatest contribution made to Master Gardener Program 
Past Union County Master Gardener of the Year include Jim Westfall and Laura McConnell.
