Union County Master Gardeners met May 28, 2003, at the Marysville Public Library. The meeting was called to order by the President who welcomed Virginia and Ed Myers. They presented a program on daylilies which they have been growing and hybridizing since 1983. He has registered and introduced 2 new cultivars and they now grow over 300 cultivars. Treasurer report was given and accepted. The following Committees reported: Tour of Gardens: Brian Wade reported everything was on schedule. Volunteers are needed for the Richwood Gardens. Ticket Chair, Karen Long, has tickets for pre-sale available. Money and/or tickets need to be returned by July 12. Chris Burnard is making educational displays that will tie in with the bicentennial. There will also be demonstrations on heirloom plants (vegetables, flowers and herbs) at 3 of the gardens. Publicity Chair, Susan Lehman, displayed the graphics for the "Town and Country" gardens. Posters will be made and T-shirts, which will cost around $8.Al and Chris Burnard and Eunice Hornsby will look for a remembrance for Laura McConnell. After the Leaping Frog Award was presented to Kim Main by Ian Pasco, the meeting was adjourned until June 25.
