Old Business:

CYOC - Eunice Hornsby gave an update.  Everything is looking good with the tomato and pepper harvesting beginning. The perennial bed planting is scheduled for September 9.  She indicated that they were initially planning on including a tree in the design but will be holding off that as there are plans to build a new facility.  She will be coordinating with the plant sale to see what plants may be left to include in the design.

McCloud Park - Karen Long gave an updated indicating that everything is blooming but the weeds are also coming. She indicated that the next work date is Saturday, July 28, at 9 AM or earlier, if you prefer.  They are looking at adding a woody ornamental to the west end to add some color.  As of the meeting, the fence has not been yet been replaced by the city.  The city have the materials; it is a matter of them taking the time to do it.

Plant Sale - Nancy Mead indicated that she needs 2 cashiers and 2 cashier helpers for the day of the sale.  MGs can begin bringing in their plants on Friday, Aug 24, at 4 p.m.  Those wanting to help with set up should come around 2 pm.  She reminded people to keep plants watered and looking good for the sale.  She will have lots of Flyers available next Friday, Aug 3, and will need help getting them out to restaurants and local businesses.  Eunice Hornsby will also be posting a flyer on the web.  Kathy Altizer's husband will again be doing breakfast on Saturday morning.  Friday they will be doing a potluck dinner so bring a dish to share if you are helping on Friday. Plants need to be labeled when they arrive.  Suggested inclusion in the labeling is sun /shade and the common and the botanical name.  There will be educational tables on Saturday and help will be needed to man those.

Garden Party - Chris Burnard reported that they had 22 volunteers during the day of the event and we had around 100 people attending the event.  The speakers seemed well received.  We had a survey provided to attendees and Mary McCord had summarized the results, which will be helpful in improving the event for next year.  We did have a volunteer's tent get stolen prior to the event and we will be replacing it for her.

Garden Tours -  Chris discussed the upcoming Master Gardeners Only tour among volunteer members' gardens. She is planning on splitting the event into 2 times based on the number and location of the gardens.  Be watching for information on the time and places.

Wine Tour - Mary McDonald shared that we have an upcoming tour and wine tasting at the Ravenhurst Winery, near Mt Victory.  We need 20 people to have it.  The cost is going to around $16.  She passed a sign up sheet.

Governor's Mansion - Mary also indicated that she has 24 peopled signed up.  She reminded that for security, we must arrive 10-15 minutes early because the tour can not begin until everyone is there.  You can't bring purses or bags.  You will need to bring photo id.  The tour will be free but donations are welcomed.  It will be from 10:30 am -12 Noon.  We will have lunch at Franklin Park Conservatory and then go to the topiary garden at the Deaf School.

Farmer's Market Festival - George reminded us that the Festival would be on Saturday, August 11, from 8 am - 2 pm.   We will be setting up the tent around 7 am.  We will be selling plants, doing a display on weeds and education on Emerald Ash Borer.  Contact Nancy Mead or George if you are bringing plants so they have an idea of how many will be coming in for sale there.

Brochure - George shared that the new brochures, which were designed by Deena Newell, are now printed and she got a great deal from Bean Break. She was able to print 1000 color copies for only 39 cents each.

Garden Gab - Carolyn Gibeaut shared that we will be having another one, probably in September at McCloud Park.  Keep an eye out for information.

Upcoming Education Event - Chris Burnard reminded that the August meeting will be put on by all the members sharing information on the plants they had started from the seeds they took in the spring.  Bring in your colorful veggies and information on how things came up and performed.  There will be prizes for various categories.  Bring a dish to share.

Photo Contest - Hazel Lawruk reminded us that the photo contest will be coming up this fall so keep taking pictures.  4x6 photos can be submitted for the contest.

Coordinator's Report - George shared that during the People and Plants event, he had been introduced to someone involved in our new local Habitat for Humanity Program.  Marysville now has its own unit.  They would be interested in having Master Gardeners help in the design of the landscape and also in helping educate homeowners on the care and maintenance. Next year we may be contacted to be involved.

The State Master Gardener Conference will be going on September 14 - 15 in Columbus.  Information and registration forms are on the State Master Gardener Website.  Tours of various gardens will be Friday.  If you register before August 10 it is $95 then $125 after.  Tours are $33 for MG and $45 for guests.

He also had a flyer on the Gateway Garden Jubilee put on by the Clark County Master Gardeners at Springfield.  It will be August 4, 9am -1pm.

He also has information on Gardening at the Point. It is program where you get a behind the scenes tours of the gardens at Cedar Point. Contact him for more details.
