November, 2005

Hi!

Fall has certainly been rather slow in arriving. Temperatures have been well above normal over the past month or so. After 4 days of rain, we are experiencing more typical fall weather. The landscape has really changed over the past week, and there is some very colorful fall foliage now! I really enjoy fall and hope that we don’t  experience a summer to winter season change and miss fall completely.  The fall harvest will continue as soon as soils can dry out. Be careful as you travel Union County highways as there will be combines, wagons, trucks, etc. on the roadways.

Our Master Gardeners have completed the landscape plans for the Union County Agricultural Center. Plants are now being installed and the result is really super with a wide variety of  trees and shrubs. You will benefit as well with the classes that can be held with a great outside demonstration site. Thanks to the Master Gardeners for a great job!  More plantings will be done next spring, as well.

Following are a number of  updates involving your lawn and garden.

John Hixson
