 2008 Master Gardener Class

The Master Gardener Class of 2008 visits Mill Creek Garden as their last class after finishing a comprehensive final exam on 16 horticulture subjects.

They used a 400 page reference manual covering, botany, soils, fertilizer, entomology, pest management, plant pathology, plant propagation, house plants, lawns, herbaceous ornamentals, perennials, annuals and bulbs, woody ornamental trees, shrubs and vines, vegetables, herbs, fruits and backyard wildlife management.  

These interns will now provide 50 hours each of volunteer service to the community as part of their requirement to become “Certified Master Gardeners”. The projects include maintenance projects such as McCloud Park, growing plants for the Master Gardener Plant Sale, Landscape Design, Lawn Establishment, working at Master Gardener Booths at Festifair, Farmer’s Market Festival Booth, helping 4-H members plant 55 Adopt-A-Pot Barrels in Union County, etc.  

They will be recognized for their completion of the educational phase of the Master Gardener Program at our next Master Gardener Meeting in April.

The Master Gardener Offers horticulture advice and tips, focusing on current issues by volunteers who are with The Ohio State University Extension, Union County Master Gardener Program.
