Union County Master Gardener School
The Master Gardener Program provides intensive training in horticulture to interested gardeners who then volunteer their time assisting with educational program and activities for Ohio residents through their Ohio State University County Extension Office. After completion of the course, they are required to donate 50 hours of this service to the county the first year and 10 hours/year thereafter. Working with county Extension personnel, Master Gardeners provide such services to their communities as answering gardening questions, conducting plant clinics, working with youth or the elderly, beautifying the community, developing community or demonstration gardens and other horticultural activities. Registration Information: We will have 18 sessions (3 hours/night)
on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (6 – 9 pm). Subjects covered will include:
Botany, Soils, Fertilizers, Entomology and Pest Management, Plant Pathology,
Plant Propagation, Lawns, Diagnostic Practices, Woody Ornamentals: Tree,
Shrubs & Vines, Basic Landscape Design, Vegetables, Flower Bulbs, Herbs,
Fruit, Household & Structural Pests, Backyard Wildlife Management,
House Plants and Herbaceous Ornamentals, Perennials, Annuals & Bulbs.
Instructors will include professionals from The Ohio State University and
experts in their field of Horticulture (Master Gardeners, Company Representatives
and more). Our classes fill fast, so sign up early! Cost is $125,
which includes a 400 page comprehensive text on all the above topics ($150
for out of county residents). Come join the
fun because gardening is FUN!!!
